A Group Project in Hero Mythology
Rubric
The Task
Epic heroes, like Beowulf, are still prevalent in modern storytelling. While they may fudge the archetype a little, modern epic heros pay homage to an old tradition.
Your task, as a group, is to show your understanding of the epic hero and the hero's journey for a modern hero. Utilizing the resources we've encountered in class (especially the notes in your journals!), your group will take a modern epic hero and prove that hero's journey through the hero's journey archetype.
You may pick from any of the heroes listed here. Your group task is to research the hero by watching the movie, locating the myth, or utilizing your own familiarity with the character to describe how he/she fits Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey and the archetypes of the epic hero we have learned. You may do this through any visual format you can share with the class (video, website, Pinterest board, Presentation, Blog Entries -- whatever creative means you can think of). You must be creative and show your own learning. You also must include a correct MLA works cited document. Do not copy and paste things from the internet as that is PLAGIARISM and will result in failure of the assignment among other punishments. Put things in your own words, use your own creativity, and show me your own learning.

This video is a great review of what it takes to be a hero. I suggest beginning here before analyzing your hero.
